The recruitment of Assistant Commandant will be conducted twice in a year for Batch commencing at Indian Naval Academy during the month Jun & Dec. The exact schedule of recruitment shall be decided by the Coast Guard Headquarters keeping in view the training schedule and other administrative requirements.

Selection Procedure
The selection of Assistant Commandant (GD) is based on an all India order of merit which is based on the performance of candidate in various stages (I – V) of examination (explained in detail below) and the number of vacancies available for the post. Clearing of Stage I, II, III, IV and V is compulsory for recruitment in ICG. All candidates will be compulsorily subjected to biometric, photo identification and document verification during various stages of examination. The candidate can apply for a single post only in one recruitment cycle. Various stages of CGCAT are as follows:-
- Stage-I (Screening Test)
- Stage-II ( Preliminary Selection Board)
- Stage-III ( Final Selection Board)
- Stage-IV (Medical examination)
- Stage-V (Induction)
Educational Qualification ?
- Graduation Degree in any Discipline is required, from a recognized University/Institute. Also, 10+2 Schooling with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects is also required.
- Minimum marks requirement in case of Graduation program is 60% marks. This requirement is relaxed by 5% marks in case of SC/ST candidates, NCC ‘C’ Certificate ‘A’ Grade Holders, National Level Sports person and wards of Indian Coast Guard personnel deceased while in service.
