Eligibility Criteria

For X & Y Group (Airmen)

  • Passed 10+2 / Intermediate with Maths & Physics (X Group)
  • Passed 10+2 / Intermediate in any stream (Y Group)
  • Age: 17 to 21 years (at time of enrollment)
  • Unmarried Indian male/female citizens
  • Must meet IAF medical standards

For AFCAT (Officer Entry)

  • Graduate in any discipline (minimum 60%)
  • Age: 20 to 26 years (varies by branch)
  • Unmarried candidates preferred for Flying branch
  • Physical fitness as per IAF norms

Airforce Selection Process

  • Stage 1 — Written Exam: AFCAT / X-Y Group written exam conducted by IAF covering English, Maths, Physics, Reasoning & GK.
  • Stage 2 — Physical Fitness Test: Candidates must meet IAF's physical standards including running, push-ups, and sit-ups.
  • Stage 3 — AFSB Interview (for Officers): Air Force Selection Board tests for Officer Like Qualities (OLQs) via psychology tests, GTO tasks, and personal interview.
  • Stage 4 — Medical Examination: Full medical examination by IAF Medical Officers to confirm fitness for service.
  • Stage 5 — Merit List & Enrollment: All-India merit list based on written + interview scores. Selected candidates are enrolled for training.
