About RMS
Rashtriya Military Schools, formerly known as King George’s Royal Indian Military Schools, have a rich history dating back to their inception. These schools were established with the noble purpose of providing quality education to the sons of defense personnel. In 1952, the schools underwent a transformation, adopting a structure similar to public schools and welcoming the enrollment of sons of both Defense Service Officers and civilians. A pivotal moment came in 1954 when the schools became members of the prestigious Indian Public Schools Conference (IPSC), a membership they retain to this day. In 1966, the schools were renamed Military Schools, and their motto transitioned from “Play the Game” to “Sheelem Param Bhushanam,” which translates to “Character is the Highest Virtue.” On June 25, 2007, these institutions took on their current name, “Rashtriya Military School.” It’s worth noting that many alumni of these schools have gone on to achieve remarkable success, not only in the Armed Forces but also in various other sectors, contributing significantly to our nation.

RIMC Exam Eligibility
1)Written Exam
Only 25 Cadets are admitted every 6 months in Rashtriya Indian Military Academy. Candidates should not be less than 11 ½ years and more than 13 years of age as on 01 Jan and 01 July of the term they join. Admissions are made to Class VIII only. The applicant must be a student of class VII or above in a recognized school at the time of joining. RIMC application forms are to be submitted to respective State governments.

The admission process is divided into 4 steps. Check them given below:
1)Age
- For Class VI, only boys aged between 10-12 years are eligible.
- For Class IX, the eligibility is limited to boys aged between 13-15 years.
Important Note: There is a six-month relaxation in the upper age limit for the wards of personnel Killed in Action, applying for admission to Class VI and Class IX respectively.
2)Educational Qualification
- Class VI: No prior educational qualification is mandatory.
- Class IX: Candidates must have successfully completed Class VIII from a government-recognized school before the admission date. Students currently studying in Class VIII are also eligible to appear in the entrance test for Class IX.

The RMS entrance exams for Class VI and Class IX are conducted as Computer-Based Tests (CBTs) using Optical Mark Reader (OMR) technology, ensuring an efficient and fair examination process.
